Dato’ Seri Zukri Samat was appointed as Director and Executive Deputy Chairman of MTD Capital Bhd, a member of AlloyMtd Group on 15 March 2018. He also sits on the Board Executive Committee as the Chairman.
He brought with him a wealth of experience in the banking industry of more than 30 years where he was involved in corporate finance, capital market, privatisation and project financing.
Prior to joining AlloyMtd Group he served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (“Bank Islam”) for eleven (11) years. He was also the Chief Executive Officer of BIMB Holding Bhd and the Chairman of Bank Islam’s subsidiaries including BIMB Investment Management Berhad and Farihan Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Under his helm, Bank Islam became one of Malaysia’s leading lslamic banks, indirectly driving the country’s aspiration to become an lslamic finance hub.
Dato’ Seri Zukri is one of the founding board members of Amana Bank, the first lslamic bank in Sri Lanka which had received technical support and assistance in various areas from Bank lslam of the initial stage.
Among his most notable positions prior to his role in Bank lslam was serving as the Managing Director of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad and Executive Director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd. He also sits on the board of several other private limited companies and government agencies.
Other accolades Dato’ Seri Zukri received for his sterling achievements were appointment by Bank Negara Malaysia and the Government to hold posts in several committees under the central bank’s purview and Chairman of Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“IBFIM”). In addition, he is also a director and EXCO member of Asian Institute of Finance (“AIF”), a member of Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (“MAIWP”), Chairman of MAIWP Dagang, a member of the Professional Development Panel and also Publication and Research Committee of International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (“INCEIF”), a director of Amana Investments Limited (Sri Lanka) and Amana Bank Limited (Sri Lanka), an Investment Advisory Committee Member of CMREF 1 Sdn Bhd, Chairman of Trustee of Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“IBFIM”), Chairman of Quality Control of Steering Committee of Financial Sector Talent Enrichment Programme (“FSTEP”), Council Member of Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (“AIBIM”) and a member of the Investment Board of Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (“YADIM”).
Currently, he is on the Board of INCEIF and sits on the Board Committee (EXCO) as Chairman. He is also President of Justice of Peace (“JP”) Kelantan and the Trustee for Yayasan Sultan Kelantan (“YSK”).
